Best City Awards 2023: Silver Award for AMBIO S.A.
Jan 23, 2023The study presentation “Vision of a Green School”, for the energy upgrade of the building and the bioclimatic redesign of the schoolyard of the 2nd Primary School, Kanallaki, Municipality of Parga, an initiative led by AMBIO S.A. Developing Consultants in collaboration with the school’s director, Ms. Eleni Koliofoti, won the Silver Award in this year’s Best City Awards. The event acknowledges and honors cities that implement innovative ideas to improve the quality of life for their citizens.
The study describes all those interventions that can ensure the school’s full energy autonomy as well as a modern environment, accessible to all children, contributing to the development of an experiential field of inclusive education and creative activity.
The bioclimatic reconstruction of the courtyard can provide an outdoor learning space, reduce the urban heat island effect, and enhance the local microclimate. In line with European and national guidelines and the values promoted by the Best City Awards, it is recognized that technical and urban interventions of any scale must be defined in terms of environmental sustainability and resilience to improve the community’s quality of life.
