7th Panhellenic Conference on Urban Planning, Spatial Planning, and Regional Development
Oct 5, 2025AMBIO participated in the 7th Panhellenic Conference on Urban Planning, Spatial Planning, and Regional Development (25–28 September 2025, Volos), a well-organized and inspiring event hosted by the Department of Planning and Regional Development of the University of Thessaly, under the central theme “Looking to the Future: Planning for Development and Prosperity in a Changing World.”
Representing AMBIO, Spatial Planner Ms. Theofania Karampatzaki delivered a presentation titled “The Importance of Spatial Planning in the Development of Aquaculture in Greece and the Sector’s Role in the Modern Business Environment.” Her presentation highlighted the crucial role of spatial planning in promoting the sustainable growth and competitiveness of the aquaculture sector. Notably, it was the first time that the social and economic footprint of Greek aquaculture was presented at both regional and national levels. The presentation received excellent feedback and sparked a series of questions and discussions among participants.
The study was carried out in collaboration with Assoc. Prof. Anestis Gourgiotis, expert in Spatial Planning at the University of Thessaly, and AMBIO’s scientific team: F. Petridis, Environmental Scientist – Ichthyologist MSc; I. Markakis, Agronomist – Animal Scientist MSc; S. Bairamidis, Ichthyologist – Environmental Scientist MSc; K. Petsa, Geographer MSc; and E.
