Annual General Assembly of the European Livestock and Meat Trades Union (UECBV) and Conference of the Young European Meat Committee (YEMCo)

One of the most prestigious conventions of the European Meat Sector takes place in Greece, for the first time

This year, the Annual General Assembly of the European Livestock and Meat Trades Union (UECBV) and Conference of the Young European Meat Committee (YEMCo), are being organised in Athens by the Greek Interprofessional Meat Organisation (EDOK), from the 7th to the 9th of November 2019, in Athens Greece.

The conference’s site has been launched and electronic registration has begun! The event is expected to attract a high number of expert delegates from all around Europe and Greece due to its tight agenda and high-specialized speakers.

UECBV yearly General Assembly and YEMCo Conference take place in the historic city of Athens, for the first time. Ambio SA, the Conference Host, joins forces with EDOK, the Greek Interprofessional Meat Organization which is the Conference Coordinator, in order to organize a unique event with rich and fruitful line-up in combination with the City’s best experiences. Delegations, among other activities, will have the chance to visit animal plants of the area as well as enjoy the city’s visiting sites.

Specifically, the first day, Thursday the 7th of November, will be dedicated to open technical meetings of the UECBV Working Groups. The main Conference will start on the next day, Friday the 8th of November, and will examine the future challenges to be tackled by the meat sector. The participants will have the opportunity to hear from distinguished speakers from Greece and abroad.

The Conference is divided into two main modules. The first module will showcase the need to modernise the sector through the integration of capable executives and will examine the introduction of new technologies in response to the lack of specialised workers.

The second module will refer to the development of trade relations both within and outside the EU, in the Balkan area, the north-eastern Mediterranean and the Near East. The sessions will also include round-table discussions with the speakers and renowned guests from the meat sector, to whom the participants will have the opportunity to present their views and ask questions. The day will close with the Annual General Assembly of UECBV and YEMCo.

At the Gala Dinner, to be held on the 8th of November at 9 p.m., participants and Accompanying Members will have the opportunity to enjoy Greek hospitality, combining delicious dishes and great entertainment.

The last day, Saturday the 9th of November, will include Technical Visits to very interesting processing plants, installations and farms involved in the production, processing and trading of meat and meat products.
